Other Members of Your Healthcare Team

The Radiation Oncology Nurse will give you specific instructions related to your care during radiation therapy.  You will meet with her frequently to discuss any problems, questions, or concerns that you have about your health.  She will assess how you are doing and help you cope with the changes you are experiencing.

The Medical Physicist assists the medical team with the technical aspects of delivering the prescribed dose of radiation to your body. The Physicist is responsible for assuring the accurate operation and maintenance of the clinical accelerators (radiation treatment machines) and other radiation equipment used to deliver your treatment.  The Physicist performs safety checks on the equipment on a regular basis.

The Dosimetrist is the person who turns the prescription instructions from the Radiation Oncologist into an optimal treatment plan. Your plan is put together using sophisticated computer software designed expressly for that purpose.

The Radiation Therapist is the person who will deliver your treatment in accordance with the Radiation Oncologist’s instructions. You will see them on a daily basis, and they are able to address concerns you have about treatment. The Therapist maintains your daily records and checks the treatment machines to make sure they are working properly.
