Michael W. Zinda M.D.  is our Medical Director.  Prior to joining our staff in 2002, Dr. Zinda served at Adena Health Systems in Chillicothe, Ohio.  A graduate of Marquette University and the Medical College of Wisconsin, Dr. Zinda served his internship and residency at North Carolina Baptist Hospital (Wake Forest University).  He also served as an associate clinical professor at the University of Kentucky and as Medical Director of both Hospice of Hope and Hospice of Northern Kentucky.  Dr. Zinda is actively involved in the American Cancer Society.  Dr. Zinda obtained a Master of Science in Health Administration from the University of Alabama.

Ming Teng M.D. joined the staff in July 2005. Following his residency in Internal Medicine at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center in New York City and in Radiation Oncology at New York Medical College in Valhalla, New York, Dr. Teng practiced at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Nashville, Tennessee where he was Clinical Director. He is Board Certified in Radiation Oncology. Dr. Teng is a specialist who has advanced training and experience in the evaluation and treatment of cancer using radiation therapy.

Glenn Applegate M.D. joined our staff on November 17, 2008. His undergraduate studies were at the University of Florida, Gainesville with a Doctor of Pharmacy, and he attended medical school at Northwestern University, Chicago. He entered private practice at Columbia St. Mary’s in Milwaukee and Mequon, Wisconsin and served there from 1998 through October 2008. His expertise includes IMRT for treatment of head and neck malignancies, pelvic malignancies and prostate cancer.

 

 

 

Other Members of Your Healthcare Team

The Radiation Oncology Nurse will give you specific instructions related to your care during radiation therapy.   You will meet with one of our Certified Oncology Nurses on a regular basis to discuss any problems, questions, or concerns that you have about your health.  Using their clinical expertise and clinical judgment, they will assess how you are doing and help you cope with the changes you are experiencing.

The Medical Physicist assists the medical team with the technical aspects of delivering the prescribed dose of radiation to your body. The Physicist is responsible for assuring the accurate operation and maintenance of the clinical accelerators (radiation treatment machines) and other radiation equipment used to deliver your treatment.  The Physicist performs safety checks on the equipment on a regular basis.

The Medical Dosimetrist peforms calculations for the accurate delivery of the Radiation Oncologist's prescribed dose, documents pertinent information in the patient record, and verifies the mathematical accuracy of all calculations using a system established by the Medical Physicist.   The Dosimetrist performs, or assists in, the application of specific methods of radiation measurement as directed by the Medical Physicist.

The Radiation Therapist is the person who will deliver your treatment in accordance with the Radiation Oncologist’s instructions. You will see them on a daily basis, and they are able to address concerns you have about treatment. The Therapist maintains your daily records and checks the treatment machines to make sure they are working properly.
