The Philips Pinnacle Treatment Planning
system is among the most sophisticated planning systems
available, with capabilities to create 3D conformal
and intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) plans.
The treatment-planning system is central to the design
of radiation therapy. Using information gathered from
MRI, CT and x-ray images, the treatment-planning system
creates 3D models of the tumor and anatomy. Decisions
about the number, energy, targeting, placement, and
shape of radiation beams can be developed in a virtual-reality
environment, with different techniques compared. A
Dosimetrist prepares a treatment plan and calculates
the doses that meet the requirements of your physician’s
prescription.
